Network Manager Telecom
Demo: PIA module
Network Manager Telecom PIA module feature.
See how IQGeo’s fiber network management software makes it simple to automate and integrate Openreach PIA enabling operators to create a flexible workflow to handle the submission of A55s, from the office or the field using the IQGeo PIA Module.

This is a video that's going to show the IQGeo PIA module and the current capabilities with the latest release. So I'm in an IQGeo application here. The first step is I'm going to want to pull down the PIA data for the area I'm working in. So this is based upon the current window extents that we're looking at. So I hit the icon here. It's going to ask me whether I want ducts, structures or both. The default is both. I then hit download. This request is then made. And as I zoom out, I can see the extent of the request area. And if I select that, then I can see information about it. So I can see that the status is created. And as that works its way through various statuses until ultimately it's completed and the data is downloaded, we'll be able to check that. So no need to stay in the application at this point. You can go off and do other things as needed. In addition to the request feature, there's also a PIS request detail. This, based on the API and the fact that we need to split things up into different requests behind the scenes, you can check the status of specific requests. So this is the detail in this case. And if I select the other object here, then this is the detail for that point. So there's multiple detail features here. So one for ducts and one for structures at this location, and then one for ducts and one for structures at this location. So what's going to happen is that will be downloaded. And we've got a couple of layers here that are related to that. So one is the PIA duct and the other is the PIA structures. So I'm just going to add the structures here. So there they are. So now I can see that the data has been downloaded. So if I zoom in, I can see that I've got my ducts. And if I select one of these, I can see details about that particular duct. And then we've also got our structure. There's my structures layer. And if I zoom in, then we've got some labels that have turned on. And if I select one of these, I can see information about the particular structure. So what we can do next with this version of the PIA module is we can select our request area. And with that selected, I'm going to pull up my productivity tools. And there's one here called PIA create feature. And if I select that, what it's going to do is it's going to take all of the PIA features that are within this extent here. So everything that's been downloaded based on that area that I was looking at earlier. And it's going to convert those into network manager features. And what that will allow us to do is then use those in the design process. And the advantage of that is we can route cables through it. We can request where we want to put equipment, et cetera. And then when we've done that, we can automatically have NOIs generated based on our design. So I've got my structures layer turned on. I'm just going to turn off my ducts. And then if we zoom in, we can see that that data is now available. So what was previously our PIA assets, we now have network manager features so we can route cables through that, like I said, place equipment, et cetera. So if I zoom out a little bit, what I'm going to do next is I'm going to create a design so I can start placing some cables and show how the NOI capability works. Having opened the design, I now have access to my editing tools. And in this case, I'm just going to place some cable. So I'm going to create a new cable. Let's say that I want to create a cable between this chamber and this chamber over here. If I preview the path, it's going to take the shortest route. And then I can, based on my system, I can fill in various information. This may be automatically populated in your particular system, but in this case, I'm just going to fill it in and maybe we'll place a 12 fiber cable there. And then pick a spec. We'll have a 12 fiber cable and we'll place that between those two chambers. So we've now placed that cable. And if we have a look, as you'd expect, we've now got a cable running through an underground route here, which started life as the PIA feature and is now a network asset. And behind the scenes where we've recorded all of the relationships between the PIA assets and these network manager features to help us down the road when it comes to NOI generation. So having created that cable, which I'll just remind myself of where that's running. So we've got it running to here. So we'll create one more cable, maybe from here out to here. So again, cable, choose the start and the end point. We'll preview to make sure we've got a path and we do. And then just fill in the necessary information. We'll say this is again, maybe a 12 fiber cable. And we'll pick a spec for that. We'll save that. So now we've got our two cables that we've placed within this design. And at this point, we may want to generate NOIs. It's important to say at this point that the out of the box product does include an NOI creation mechanism and a workflow for creating those NOIs that I'm showing you here. But it's anticipated that customers will have their own requirements for NOI creation and they may have NOIs that are created at different times for different purposes. So the tool has been written in a way that we do have mechanisms behind the scenes to implement different workflows as needed. We've got those building blocks in place. For example, you may want to create an NOI that's got everything in it for a particular area so you can go and do some invasive survey to check everything before committing to leveraging that in your design. And you may then want to cancel off that NOI once that process is complete and then maybe use this process that I'm showing here. So have a chat with us if you've got other requirements for NOI creation, because I'm sure we'll be able to cater to those. In this case, I'm following the kind of the modules out of the box process. So my next step is I'm going to create a new NOI. So I'll give that just the extent of the area that I'm working in and that'll encompass the two kind of cables that I've created. Give this a name. I need there's a couple of required fields. So the completion date, I'll just put end of the month and then start date. I'll put down as. As today. And then that's all I need to do. I hit save. And then that has now been created. And if I hit manage NOI, you'll see that the two cables that I created are recorded in there. And we have, you know, the ability to remove these cables or if you want to manually add additional cables, if you've created the NOI and then later you've modified the design and you need to add new cables to this NOI, you can do that. And then when you're ready to do so, you can submit that NOI, kind of run through the system. We'll then have the piano ID that you can use throughout the kind of the lifecycle of this particular NOI. And then you have mechanisms here to to modify or to cancel it. So in this case, just because we're doing a demo, I'll cancel that particular NOI. And then we have the cancellation date recorded there. So that is just a demonstration of the out of the box capability of the IQgeo PIA module. As mentioned, the NOI management part is is flexible. So if you have other scenarios with which you want NOIs created, we'll we'll be able to cater to those. And that's it. Thank you.
