Demo: Using markup presets in a design

In IQGeo's latest release of Network Manager Electric version 2.8, we have some new features available. We'll cover those today, but some of them include the ability to enable the use of markups in the map, but not only is this ability allowed within a design, it is also for global markups outside of a design for general sharing data. purposes. This ability is controlled via configuration by the administrator by identifying the roles that each user's access has within the application. In this existing design, we have extended the network to bring service to these two customers. Affiliate to this design are the annotations that will represent the purpose of the compatible units that are associated to each of the assets that were put in the design. We cover the fact that we have extended the format. We cover the fact that we have utilized compatible units for the meters, specifically AMI meters, the transformers, the poles, and the conductors, as well as the splices. We'll shut these off for the time being. What we'll do today is we'll make some notes with the market functionality that was mentioned for the construction crews to see while they build the network extension in the field. These are just for communication. purposes and notes that they'll notice and notes that they'll obviously see when they see the compatible units when they pull them up in the field and part as part of the design. But this information is useful for them in the case that they need to have some sort of notation to see in the field for the work purposes. Some of the latest examples of the functionality that we've updated is the ability to basically define the presets within. Not technically in the design as much as it's just markup presets specifically. So what we'll do is we'll go in and we'll showcase some of those presets that were predefined. So some of the items that we could cover are the layer style. So we can use generic symbology, maybe one for customer threats if that needs to be communicated, depending on the workflow, crew locations, which is typically going to be found through GPS tracking anyways. We may have vegetation, structures, equipment, a shed, deck, pool, anything of the like. We could even use our own basic symbology that we have within the data model for Network Manager Electric for these purposes. Maybe a warning sign. Maybe there's a dog in the backyard. It could be anything, right? So from here, what we want to do is we want to show that it's pretty easy to define a new preset, but you can just give it a name of any type of name. But since we already have some existing presets, I'll show you what we did for that. So out of the box, we could use presets for points, lines, polygons, and text. But we've also done that for each one of these. Notice that each of these have just specific information for the purpose of this video. And we'll cover the first one that's covering the point markup preset, which is to identify important details in the map as part of the design. We'll also use a line that will be shown in here as part of an identifier. And then a right of white polygon that's designated, along with text that's already going to be put in place. So these are the identifiers for the presets that are available. We'll go ahead and cancel that. Notice when I enable the markup palette that the floating window shows up, which is something that you've probably seen from previous versions of the application. We've enhanced the product to offer in seamless, pretty much a seamless expedited type of feel to the smoother UI experience to give the user the ability to either select this mode from the office point of view or to flip it over to field mode, which makes it floating window, a docked window, which smoothens up the UI, gives the experience a bit more of a field user-friendly environment to work within. So it's a field user-friendly environment to work within since it can tap on a docked button type style of palette instead of having the floating dock. That way it doesn't get in the way and it's positioned to decide. So we'll go ahead and we'll showcase some of that, but let's turn on the markups to begin with. I've already pre-staged a couple examples of showing what these markups can look like. So first we've shown that this network extension will be added to Northwest of McKinsey Street, and then this is the identified right-of-way. We'll turn on the Dixon parcels real quick to show the outline of that right-of-way specifically. Since we have that boundary around here, it's a little larger, but it's just to identify the location of where it's at to begin with. We'll turn this off to show that boundary, plus we have the right-of-way next to the street where these are placed. Then we place the poles behind the homes for purpose to connect the services from there. So what we'll do next is we'll turn up the parcels, and we will place some pretty obvious notes just to give the experience some applied uses. So what we'll take is we'll take the text, and we'll place this with the leader line, and we'll place the same size and class, and then we'll change the preset to match the ones at the bottom. Click here, and then I can select and move this graphic anywhere that I want it to be. Move it on the other side since we'll have another note going over here shortly. And then we'll click Save. Since we're going to specify the location of these meters, we've identified that this meter and the other meter have been installed specifically with AMI equipment on it. So these are both AMI meters. So we'll use the text to designate that information. We'll do that on the one that's below, but give a general note that applies to both meters. After placing these, we'll put the notes just off to the right so that the graphic can be representative of what's in the map at a better view. From this view, we can see all of the markups that were made. To designate the right-of-way, all poles were the same size throughout the design. The network extension was northwest of McKinsey Street, and that both meters that were installed were AI meters.
