My name is Geer Bruiland,
working at Proximus and more specifically I'm working at
the fiber network deployment program as a domain manager.
The goal of my team is we have different goals and we have different
responsibilities but one of them is of course deliver the high
level designs that are needed to deploy our fiber network.
With respect to design work what we used to do
was in fact
there was a lot of manual work
and we had quite substantial design
offices with a lot of people working
in it.
And also very importantly with respect to the
deployment we didn't do in the past massive
a big network deployment.
Specifically what we did was small extensions or repair or other
things to the network but not massive deployment of a network.
Design was made using different tools
and basically if you are talking about making a
high level design like we are doing with Comsof,
it was basically manual work.
And even up to a couple of years ago
we did it on paper.
What
brought about the change that we started looking at Comsof
was the fact that we want to deploy a completely new network.
We want to reach 70% of Belgium by 2028.
In 2019 we delivered 75,000 home passed.
The goal for 2020 was to deliver 150,000
times 2.
And the goal for 2021 was to deliver 300,000 home passed
again times 2.
So we had
the huge challenge of ramping our production
times 2 times 2 in 2 years time.
For us Comsof is really a partner.
It's part of what we are doing.
They know us very well.
They know what we want and they can think with us.
It is also as such that Comsof is for a part
also integrated in our way of working IT wise.
So IT wise we are
working in an agile way and even a number of Comsof
developers are part of that agile way of working
and work with us in the company in Proximus.
Comsof is
the tool that we are using and I would say we
are not impressed with Comsof within my team.
And I will explain myself.
But Comsof has just
gotten such a habit to use in Comsof.
And Comsof is delivering what it should deliver.
That within my team nobody thinks
about like this is an exceptional tool,
this is so powerful.
It is something that delivers and it is
there and we use it on a daily basis.
It is just doing what we want it to
do and it is performing very well.
So for us it's like always there.
I think Comsof gives us the opportunity to be flexible
and to take into account all the different
things that can change and all the different
demands or different demands that we can get.
