I am the infrastructure engineer with Skyline.
My primary role is outside plant infrastructure,
construction,
splicing,
maintenance.
The level of accuracy that we're able to have
utilizing the IQGeo software does enable our crews
to pinpoint exactly where to go and what to do.
The splice package and things that we're
able to create utilizing the software,
it is leaps and bounds above what
they would have historically gotten.

Ph.D.: So it enables them to be very,
very efficient,
whether that is for splicing on new builds or whether
that is hyper-focused to be able to make repairs.
One of the funny stories,
we had a crew that needed to respond to a particular outage.
This particular instance,
after we did a trace and we used the find fault feature,
enabled that crew to hyper-focus and go out
and know exactly where to look for the damage.

Ph.D.: And that damage happened to be at a
transition point between aerial and underground.
Not only were we able to hyper-focus and know exactly where to go,
but the funny part about it was as they were removing the U-Guard,
thought it was a dead squirrel,
ended up being still alive.
So as we grabbed it, he was biting.

Ph.D.: And it's an interesting thing when you're out there
with a little sleep at two or three o'clock in the morning.
Makes for some comical late night repair.

Ph.D.: Yeah,
without the software,
we would not have been able to maintain the networks
that we are responsible for the way that we do and
keeping those mission-critical networks up and running.
And when they do break,
getting them back up and running as quick as possible.
